Inaugural international festival for BATs
This Saturday, 27 April, sees Edinburgh BATs Rugby launch its latest new initiative - an international U13 rugby festival. This exciting venture, which kicks off in Inverleith Park at 12:00, will see BATs host teams from Highland, Melrose, Bath, Fylde, London Scottish, Nantes and Grenoble, before transferring to Raeburn Place for an evening of rugby hospitality.
At U13 level, games are 13-a-side and matches tomorrow will be 16 minutes long. The festival has been structured so that every team is guaranteed at least five games.
The games will be refereed by BATs' recently qualified crop of Level 1 referees, who all play for BATs at U15. BATs have facilitated the boys through their refereeing course as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze qualifications. This is part of BATs' committment to growing all aspects of the game.
In addition to the rugby, there will be a pipe band, a licencend bar for refreshments and the Edinburgh Community Rugby stall, making this a day out for all the family. All spectators are welcome, so please go along and see the spirit of international sport in action.
