Steel work installation marks next construction milestone
The building works are progressing well, with all the groundworks complete, including the foundations and main drainage for the whole development. Whilst the civils contractors have been extremely busy, as their work is primarily underground it may have seemed that there was a lot of on-site activity with no visible outcome. That is now set to change with the installation of the first elements of the steel framework.
Steel work started arriving on site earlier this week, along with a man-hoist, in preparation for the arrival of the lifting crane yesterday (1 May). By mid-afternoon, the first steel column was being lifted into place and was captured in the following video.
Good progress has already been made, with the first section of the stand in place and several smaller internal columns installed. The contractor anticipates that the steel work should be complete within five to six weeks.
